This list is quite similar to Jeff Geerling’s Mini Rack 002, so a big thanks to him for the inspiration!

Component List

DeskPi RackMate T0 - Compact 10‑inch 4U aluminium mini‑rack 200 mm deep that holds all the gear and fits neatly on a shelf; looks cool 😎.
GL Opal - Small router with two LAN and WAN port. Comes with easy to use software that let’s us configure VPN and DNS settings.
Mikrotik CSS610-8G-2S+in - Fanless layer‑2+ switch with 8 × 1 GbE ports and 2 × 10 Gb SFP+ uplinks, managed by SwOS Lite—perfect backbone for Pi cluster.
Mikrotik RMK-2/10 Rack Mount Kit - 1 U kit that lets you bolt one or two small MikroTik devices into our 10″ rack.
Raspberry Pi 5 8GB - The compute power for our cluster. Raspberripis looked like the best option for a beginner firendly setup.
DeskPi 2U 4x Raspberry Pi PCIe NVMe Mount - 2 U tray with four PCIe x1 adapters so each Pi can mount an M.2 NVMe SSD—fast local storage without USB bottlenecks. This is great for future upgrades if I ever want to move away from my Microsd cards. Also, it looks cool 😅.
300W USB-C Charging Station - Any charging station with 260W+ should do the job for this build.
Mini Rack PDU - Any 1 U power strip made for 10″ racks should do the job; 4 NEMA 5‑15R outlets with overload protection and front switch.

Feedback & Comunity

I would love to hear feedback on my build and learn what you would do differently in my situation. Also, check out all the other cool builds in Jeff’s Project MiniRack community and get inspired!
